| Prepare to WAIT for the cedula! I just spent ANOTHER day at immigration! This country is indeed a fine example of bureaucracy at its very very best! I went to immigration yesterday with all my documents (which had been stamped and legalized by so many different bodies they are hardly legible anymore!). I went through the whole process, they took my fingerprints, I paid (again...prepare to pay many many times for so many different things!) and then they said they wanted an extra word (ONE WORD!) added to the letter from my escribano (notary). I updated the letter, went back to immigration today, took a ticket, waited in line, was told I had to wait in a different line...waited there, got one piece of paper, had to go to another desk to pay, then return, take a different piece of paper, take that paper to the desk on the other side of the hall, they stamped it 4 times, put it in a drawer and printed off another piece of paper....the story continues like this for what felt like days! If you plan to apply for permanent residency here be sure to come with a full supply of patience and be ready to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all! |
