| YouTube: Undergraduate Intensive English Language Study Program Los 10 becarios uruguayos que participaron en la edición 2009 del programa "Undergraduate Intensive English Study Program" conversan sobre sus experiencias en Estados Unidos. Este es un programa del Buró de Educación y Cultura del Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos cuyo objetivo es ofrecer a estudiantes universitarios de América Latina la oportunidad de realizar un curso de inglés intensivo en una universidad de los Estados Unidos durante ocho semanas. El programa se anuncia en todas las universidades del pais y los participantes son seleccionados por las mismas universidades. The Undergraduate Intensive English Language Study Program sponsored by the Department of State, enrolled 10 undergraduate students from Uruguayan Universities and Teacher Training Institutes, who demonstrated the potential to become student leaders, in eight-week intensive language courses at St. Michaels College, Burlington, Vermont. It also provided them with an introduction to American institutions, society and culture. The students agreed that this was a life changing experience which gave them the opportunity to meet new friends, to know other cultures, improve their English skills and enhance their personal and professional horizons. |
| It's always important to learn another language. Just by learning English, these students now have a view into another culture and another lifestyle. English can be applied practically around the world, even large business centres, like Brussels in Belgium use English as the working language. Together with their degrees, they will go further than their fellow students who only speak the language of their country. |

To think that they came from a Spanish speaking country, this is really an opportunity for them to learn and at the same time themselves to a lot of changes, for sure. It is, indeed, a life-changing experience because these students will learn to see things from a new and a broader perspective. Before, they only knew how to converse in Spanish but going through this scholarship course will now enable them to learn English so they can talk to people from the United States and other English speaking countries. It will also hone their leadership skills and prepare them for a great future. |

| I have to agree with Marynor. And as much as possible learn some more language aside from the English language as well. As long as you are learning something new then surely you are to find a much better job opportunity. By the way, learning English would mean that you can easily or somehow make the conversation much easier if you are to communicate with different people regardless of their nationality. Because English has been the language used by many, worldwide. |
