Montevideo Taboos

I'll be arriving in Montevideo for the first time next month. What are some big time no nos I should be aware of?

Judy

Well, I hear that one should not give money to street kids. They are hooked on a drug and will use the money to buy more.

Gerry

There are lots of street kids nowadays and I think it is not a good idea to give them money because they might just use it to buy something and do something silly like what Judy had said. It is best that we try to convince those kids to go back to their homes or try to bring them to proper organizations that might be able to help them. Good day.

Well I think in anywhere we do it is important to learn the customs embodied by a certain nation. In that way you will be careful enough in doing such actions that might bring you into a complicated situation. You just have to be careful enough with some crimes in Montevideo like robbery or syndicates. They might take advantage of you, so be wise enough to talk with them most especially with strangers.

What Judy and Gerry said about not giving money to kids in the streets because they will just use them to buy drugs is just so sad. If these kids are already into illegal drugs at a young age, what future awaits them? Will they just grow up to become a menace to the society of Montevideo? Becoming a parent can be one of the most challenging tasks for anyone.

Hi there!

Thanks you so much for all these helpful tips. I will be relocating in Montevideo very soon and I really want to know and learn the basics about this place. I just know that this is a great place with fantastic, beautiful people. I still want to know their culture and their traditions.

Thank you so much and have a great day to all of you guys!
